Abstract
The Chesapeake Research Consortium (CRC) aspires to fully enable its member
institutions and the broader scientific community in the region to contribute effectively
toward better understanding and management of the Chesapeake Bay and its
watershed. CRC aims to play a critical and central role in defining, coordinating, and
disseminating the research and education needed to best contribute to the decision-
making process for effective and sustainable management of the Chesapeake Bay, its
watershed, and its living resources.
As we enter the third decade of the 21 st century and the fifth decade of Chesapeake Bay
restoration efforts, the restoration gains are more difficult to come by, and we will need
to be able to navigate effectively and collectively. To these ends, we are convening this
discussion session to gather input from the regional environmental management and
research community to identify current and future environmental management questions
and issues. CRC is committed to providing the space where scientists and managers
are convened to honestly face these challenges; our goal in this session is to gather
input to develop a series of seminars and themed newsletters designed to disseminate
information and foster further discussion around the identified management questions
and issues.
This will be a moderated discussion with some guiding questions posed at the outset,
and your input will be critical to the space we create.
